The Role

The Climate Action Campaign is seeking an Operations Manager to join our Operations team. We’re looking for a passionate and dynamic team player who is a self-starter who can juggle multiple deadlines and priorities in support of the Operations team. The person in this role will provide day-to-day financial and operational management, procurement and inventory management, and aid in human resources management. This role requires an excellent sense of prioritization, strategic communication, and discretion. The right candidate has experience in a fast-paced, non-profit, or political setting and is eager to support the continuous improvement and organization where priorities shift regularly.

The Operations Manager will report to the Senior Director of Operations and work collaboratively across the organization. We are a nationwide team working with a wide range of leaders and a cross-sector ecosystem of partner organizations.

Key responsibilities may include:

Operations Management  (50%)

  •  Serve as the point of contact for staff questions regarding internal operations relating to communications platforms, subscriptions, and workspace management.
  • Work with the finance team to reconcile internal and financial data, including credit card statements, vendor and grantee payments, donor invoices, etc.
  • Provide event and logistics support for high-level coalition meetings, retreats, press events, and annual community events
  • Serve as point of contact for operations requests and purchases, including office supplies, print materials, and IT equipment. 
  • Assist with improving and developing organizational policies and procedures

 

Human Resources (25%)

  • Manage and oversee the Campaign’s hiring, onboarding, and off-boarding processes, including managing job postings, screenings and interviews, and facilitating weekly HR meetings with senior leadership
  • Coordinate and support quarterly all-staff meetings, agenda development, and meeting facilitation
  • Assist Senior Director with timesheet approvals, coding, and managing leave requests.
  • Oversee the campaigns fellowship/internship program

 

Administrative (25%)

  • Occasional calendar management and scheduling for Executive Director and Senior Director of Operations
  • Support and manage special operations projects and ad-hoc tasks, such as staff appreciation events, coalition and community events, senior leadership team coordination,
  •  Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director or Campaign Director

Who You Are

  • 3-6 years of experience in operations/administrative management in a non-profit or political campaign setting
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced skills in Excel 
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks or Sage Intact preferred (pulling reports, P&L, expenses, charge accounts, reconciliations, etc..)
  • Excellent communication skills and time management with the ability to manage multiple processes at a given time
  • Ability to complete a high volume of tasks and projects with little guidance
  • Must be organized with strong attention to detail, proofreading skills, and the ability to work independently and within a team framework
  • Ability to work effectively as a geographically dispersed team member and communicate with staff at offsite locations. This includes comfort with communicating via phone, Zoom, Slack, etc;
  • A demonstrated interest in environmental issues is preferred but not required.
  • Desire to grow into a leadership role

The Fine Print

This is a full-time, Exempt position based in Washington, DC. CAC staff work in a hybrid set-up with minimal in-office work (1-2 days a week). The salary range for this position is $75,000- $85,000 and is commensurate based on experience.
